| If the seat tilt of your chair can be adjusted, check to make sure that it is level or very slightly lower in the front than in the back. You can do this visually. The idea is to relieve pressure on the backs of your legs, but not to tilt the chair seat so far that you will tend to slide forward.
Too much pressure on the backs of your legs can restrict the blood flow to your lower legs. This can be caused by having your seat higher in the front than in the back, which allows the front edge of the seat to press on the underside of your legs.
Too large a chair can also restrict the blood flow to your lower legs by allowing the backs of your knees to press against the front of the chair seat. If your chair is too large for you, you may need to use a cushion behind your back or get an appropriately sized chair. |
